Combinatorial synthesis consists of high throughput fabrication and rapid characterization of compositionally varying samples to speed up the process of materials development. In this report, synthesis of composition distributes of artificial multiferroic thin film heterostructures composed of changing layers of (PTO) – (CFO) has become demonstrated.
Material Science Projects
Material science is an interdisciplinary field applying the properties of matter to various areas of science and engineering. This scientific field investigates the relationship between the structure of materials at atomic or molecular scales and their macroscopic properties. This section is dedicated to material science projects, materials science engineering project ideas, material sciences project sample, materials science project topics, final year materials science project list, materials science project titles for students.
Magnetoelastic Coupling in NiMnGa Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloy

NiMnGa alloys have attracted extensive attention because their ferromagnetic characteristic provides an additional degree of freedom to control both the shape memory effect and the multi-stage phase transformations in this Heusler system. Technically, along with the large magnetic-field-induced strains… Contents 1 The Martensitic Transformation 1.1 Introduction 1.2 Diffusional Transformations 1.3 Diffusionless Transformations 1.4 Martensitic Transformations [...]
Study on Be and Si doping of cubic boron nitride films
This work presents the recent progress in research of synthesis and doping of cubic boron nitride (cBN) films, prepared by chemical and physical vapor deposition (CVD and PVD) methods. Cubic boron nitride (cBN) is a synthetic material which does not exist in nature. This compound material was sythesized in 1950-s using a high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) [...]
Nanoscale behavior of 90 degree domains in ferroelectric films
Investigation of ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of ferroelectric films at nanoscale is not only of fundamental interest, but also critical to their applications as non-volatile ferroelectric memories and as microsensors and microactuators for microelectromechanical systems. Both intrinsic and extrinsic effects play a role in determining film properties. Although… Contents Author: Ma, Zhengkun Source: University of [...]
Nucleation and growth of cubic boron nitride thin films
Cubic boron nitride (cBN) is a synthetic and an intrinsically super-hard material with the second highest hardness and thermal conductivity next to diamond. Cubic BN with its tetrahedral sp3 structure is isostructural and isoelectronic to diamond. Diamond is far the most extreme material but cBN surpasses diamond in some properties. Unlike diamond, cBN is chemically [...]
Template-assisted synthesis of nanomaterials
Fabricating nanostructures and tailoring their properties on the nanometer scales by conventional lithographic approaches are challenging. In particular, the creation of nanostructures with good alignment and uniform size, to enable and enhance desirable collective behaviors, is even more difficult. Such difficulties have compelled us to seek alternative approaches such as utilization of template methods to [...]
Solid state nuclear track detectors
Title: Experimental determination of parameters of tracks on solid state nuclear track detectors from alpha particles with different incident energies and angles The use of solid state nuclear track detectors (SSNTDs) has already become a well-known technique which has been widely applied in monitoring concentrations of radon gas by recording their emitted alpha particles. The [...]
The first jump of the East Asia summer monsoon trough
The features of the first jump of the seasonal march associated with the interannual variabilities of the East Asia summer monsoon (EASM) trough are studied. The northward march of the monsoon trough has been identified and two kinds of EASM are categorized. The evolution and the physical characteristics for the first jump are investigated. Low-level [...]
Project Report – Polymeric waveguide devices
Integrated optics, or guided wave optics, is playing an increasingly important role in optical communication networks and optical sensor systems today. Optical devices with diverse functionality based on different materials have been demonstrated. Recently, polymeric waveguide devices have attracted a great deal of attention because polymer materials have many unique properties, such as ease of [...]
Surface mounted chips project report
Title: Laser interferometric studies of solder joints of surface mounted chips In order to understand the stress-strain relationship in surface mount solder joints. previous research workers used strain gauges to measure the deformation of these joints. However, this method is indirect and not very accurate. In this Ph.D. project, a non-contact and highly accurate method [...]
